James Valley Drug and DUI Court celebrates its new graduate

James Valley Drug and DUI Court Thursday celebrated yet another graduation from its intensive rehabilitation program. Judge Donna Bucher shared that graduate Kyle-M was convicted of a felony and received a suspended prison sentence. Since he entered the program Kyle has celebrated 535 days of sobriety, paid $867 in fines, completed more than 36 hours of mental health counseling and 102 hours of treatment among other achievements. “That’s a lot of numbers and that’s a lot of work,” Bucher told attendees. “Kyle has done it with a smile on his face,” she continued. “He is sober and today he is very solemn as well.”

The James Valley Drug and DUI Court’s mission is to provide community-based rehabilitation through intensive treatment and supervision to stop the cycle of repeat offenses and substance use disorders. The program aims to create safer communities and reduce the costs of correction.
