James Valley Drug and DUI Court celebrated the graduation of Dakota Rouse Thursday before a packed second-floor court room at the Davison County Public Safety building.
Keynote speaker Sally M. Sherf offered encouragement to Dakota and other drug court participants. “And I ask you all, please don’t give up on yourselves, until the miracles in your lives happen,” Sherf said.
Rouse expressed her gratitude. “I appreciate the opportunity that I have been given to learn how to live a sober life,” Rouse shared. “To have stability, consistency, reliability for my children and the generations to come. I finally made it home.”
Rouse joined the program in 2024 and has 625 sober days, paid off all fines and costs, completed 336 hours of treatment, attended 229 documented support group meetings and performed 23 hours of community service.
The mission of the James Valley Drug & DUI Court is to provide community-based rehabilitation through intensive treatment and supervision to stop the cycle of repeat offenders and substance use disorders, thereby creating safer communities and reducing corrections costs.
