Congressman Dusty Johnson has been getting an earful regarding the crisis at the southern border during his summer recess travels across South Dakota.
“And it’s clearly in crisis,” said Johnson. “There is a growing bipartisan understanding in Congress, thank goodness, that the status quo is not going to work.”
He said the flow of fentanyl along with undocumented migrants remain the top issues. “For a country that values the rule of law like we do, we’ve got to do a better job,” said Johnson.
He said a dozen appropriations bills and the end of the fiscal year at the end of the month will keep Congress busy when it returns to work following the Labor Day holiday.
Johnson was the featured speaker at Thursday’s Mitchell Rotary Club meeting.
