Over the weekend the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association presented the First-Place Eric Sevareid Award for Morning Newscast, Small Market Radio to KORN News Radio: “Mitchell’s Morning News-November 15th, 2023.”
News Director J.P. Skelly accepted the award Saturday evening from MBJA South Dakota Board member Zach Nelson of KCCR Radio.
Radio Television Digital News Association President Dan Shelley was also on hand for the awards presentation.
MBJA covers the six-state region of the upper Midwest including South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin and presents the annual Midwest Journalism Conference in Minneapolis.
As part of the conference Nelson and Skelly led an educational session on the use of audio in broadcast storytelling entitled “Sounds Good.”
