KORN News Radio’s “Mitchell’s Morning News” captured first-place honors for small market radio morning newscast in the 2024 Eric Sevareid Awards presented by the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association.
News Director J.P. Skelly accepted the award during last weekend’s Midwest Journalism Conference in Bloomington, Minnesota. “It’s an honor for Mitchell’s Morning News to be recognized as the best in a six-state region.” said Skelly.
The Midwest Journalism Conference is one of the largest regional events of its kind bringing together broadcast journalists ranging from students to experienced to sharpen their skills through educational opportunities presented by industry leaders and experts.
“We also learn from each other by sharing our on the job experiences,” Skelly said. “I also value the camaraderie and friendships I’ve developed over the years.”
The Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association includes the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
