A life-saving opioid antidote is now available to the public free of charge. Lana Loken is a member of the Davison County Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Coalition. “Setting up a Narcan, or Naloxone center over at the Shell station on West Havens so that people can come and get the medication that can save a life from an overdose,” said Loken.
NARCAN is a safe, easy to use medication that quickly reverses opioid overdoses. “It’s a nasal spray,” Loken said. “So you just put the plunger in the person’s nose, push the plunger up, and the medication goes up into one side of the nose.”

Loken says Narcan isn’t only for drug users. It’s for friends, family, co-workers and others. “It’s kind of like having an AED around or an “epipen”, or anything like that,” Loken continued. “You just want to make sure that you have it, so we encourage anyone who might be in that position to go and get one,”
Again, the Narcan is available at the Shell Station located at 1524 West Havens on Mitchell’s westside during normal business hours.
