A 28-year-old man suffered fatal injuries Friday morning in a two vehicle crash five miles northeast of Beresford.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is reporting around 5:45 am, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on 294th Street near 474th Avenue. At the same time, 74 year old driver of a Volvo Semi was traveling westbound on 294th Street. For an unknown reason, the Jeep crossed the center line into the westbound lanes and struck the semi head on.
The driver of the Jeep was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
