Longfellow Elementary School staff reaches out through a “wave parade”

There was a celebration of “social distancing” Sunday afternoon during a “wave parade” around Longfellow Elementary School. “We just had a way for the parents and the families who are so important to us to be able to come out and see us and greet us, and we could see them.” said Longfellow principal Lisa Heckenlaible.

Staff surrounded the school with signs and greetings as the students passed by. “All the kids made signs to tell the teachers they miss them as well,” Heckenliable said.

She said on-line instruction is going well and a bonus is the students can see each other and their teachers through technology such as ZOOM and Google Hangout. “Our teachers are doing a phenomenal job,” according to Heckenlaible. “As well as out Longfellow Lion parents, they are doing fabulous.”

The Longfellow staff also recognized and thanked first-responders.
