Around 125 people associated with manufacturing gathered in Mitchell Tuesday for the 2024 Manufacturing Summit. Michelle Kakacek with South Dakota Manufacturing and Technology Solutions says it’s an opportunity to bring manufacturers and businesspeople together. “To learn about manufacturing in South Dakota,” said Kakacek. “And learn some tools also to help them in their own businesses.”
She says two topics of interest involved cyber security and cyber insurance. “As things become more and more technically advanced, there are risks that come with that progress,” Kakacek said. “And for manufacturing with especially things like industry 4.0 where all the systems kind of become interconnected, understanding what you need to do to compete and also how to protect yourself.”
Kakacek says it’s important for communities to support manufacturing as it contributes so much to the economy.
