As an organization, there are services that the City provides that are critical to the community, especially during crisis or emergency situations. While we know many other City services are valuable to our citizens, we also know the importance of following recommendations from the State and Federal Government and Health organizations to help slow the spread of the virus. Because of this, Mayor Bob Everson has issued Executive Order #2020-01. In addition to this executive order, Mayor Everson has announced closures that will be affecting City facilities as listed below. These closures will remain in place until further notice. All other city services will continue at this time.
- Effective Today, March 13, 2020 at 5:00 PM no outside groups will be allowed to use City facilities, excluding the Corn Palace, until further notice.
- Effective Today, March 13, 2020 the Mitchell Activities Center will be closing for the remainder of the season.
- Effective Saturday, March 14, 2020 Palace Transit will be operating on essential transportation routes until further notice.
- Effective Sunday, March 15, 2020 at midnight the following City facilities will be closed to the public until further notice: Recreation Center, Indoor Park Shelters, the Public Library, and the JVCC Community Center.
- Effective Sunday, March 15, 2020 at midnight the following City programs will be cancelled until further notice: Library Programs, Preschool Program, After School Program, Park & Recreation Programming.
- Effective Monday, March 16, 2020 the JVCC Senior Meals program will be utilizing “to go” meals and will not offer sit down meals until further notice.
The City has created a”city ALERTS” subscription on the city’s website. Any future notifications will be communicated through the alert system and will also be posted as a “news flash”.
We would like to remind citizens that many of the services you conduct with the City can be done online including utility payments, job applications, special event permits and more. Please utilize these methods if you are able to. You can also call City offices at 605-995-8420 if you have questions about City services.
