This is National Travel and Tourism Week and the Mitchel Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB are gearing up for the new season.
Johanna Allen says they’re set to welcome additional bus tours this year. “We have a red carpet that we’re rolling out for the bus tours,” said Allen. It includes interactions with the tour guides. “We’re having them re-enact people that are important to the Corn Palace and have some of those options for the tourists,” Allen said.
She says Main Street is ready as well. “And we’re very excited about the opportunity to showcase that to tourists this summer,” Allen noted. “The ‘Hope’ statue that was just revealed is beautiful and adds to the kind of art presence on Main Street which is already growing.”
Allen is encouraging community members to make visitors feel welcome and thank them for choosing to stop in Mitchell.
