Mitchell City Council approves conditional use permit for Arnie’s First and Foster

The Mitchell City Council has approved a conditional use permit for on-sale Alcohol at Arnie’s and First and Foster.

Part of the plan is to offer video lottery. Attorney Jim Taylor explained how the alcohol license fits in. “You have to have an on-sale license to get a video gaming license,” said Taylor. “So, whether or not these folks want to sell beer or wine on an on-sale basis, they still have to have that license in order to have the video gaming machines.”

Marty Eilts and his wife live across the street. “We all know gambling and alcohol is an addiction and, I don’t believe opening up lottery in the neighborhood is a service to the neighborhood,” Eilts said.

The Council voted 6 to 1 with one absent. Councilor Tim Goldammer cast the one “no” vote.
