Klock Werks undertook its biggest bike build ever Wednesday afternoon. In fact they turned out 54 strider bikes in a matter of hours. Owner Brian Klock says the bikes have no motors and are headed to Mitchell’s elementary schools. “They’re beginner bikes…for kindergarteners, young kids to get access to the balance and access to the mobility to get them out and moving,” said Klock.
He says Alan and Jen Bainbridge came up with the idea and Klock Werks gladly came aboard.
Superintendent Joe Graves says the PE teachers were excited with the donation. “We’re going to add a new PE unit in our kindergarten level, basically teaching our youngest students how to ride bikes,” said Graves
He says the donation includes bike helmets and storage units.
Strider bikes are made in Rapid City and made available to schools thanks to donors. The bikes are set for delivery Thursday afternoon to LB Williams, Gertie Belle Rogers and Longfellow Elementary Schools.
