Mitchell Fire Department unveils its new Utility Task Vehicle

It’s been a long time-coming. The Mitchell Fire Department recently took delivery of a new UTV which Fire Chief Dan Pollreisz says is an important tool for the department and the community.

“The whole idea behind it is to be able to get to places, get to patients, when our ambulances and fire trucks can’t get there,” Pollreisz said. “And it’s going to be able to be utilized in inclement weather, in the Jim River Hills to Enemy Creek, you name it.” Pollreisz added “It’s going to make a difference in our responses, especially during the winter-time.”

He says a community-effort brought the project together including service organizations and businesses which saw the need and benefit to the community. “That machine is going to have a positive impact on somebody’s life, and it’s because of them that that person is going to have a good outcome.” Pollreisz said.

The new UTV is based at the Mitchell Fire Department.
