Mitchell Area Council of the Arts, Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, and the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce, along with local business owners, have joined forces yet again to host another Mitchell Main Street Window Art Contest!
We invite artists of all ages and backgrounds to showcase their talents and interpret the theme, “Literary Inspirations.” In the world of art and literature, inspiration knows no bounds, and we challenge artists to capture the essence of favorite literary works through their artistic vision.
Danna Kolbeck, President of the Mitchell Area Council of Arts said, “We want you to show us the impact a book, poem or story has made in your life. Was it a villain, hero, or theme? Take a photo or paint a scene that resonates with something moving you’ve read. Bring your literary love to the sky by designing a window panel that will be visible to thousands of locals and tourists that visit Mitchell Main Street.”
Official entry forms are available now for pickup at the Chamber office, located at 601 N Main Street, or online at mitchellchamber.com/window-art-contest. The contest is open to all artists, both amateur and professional, of any age and background.
Entries must be submitted to the Chamber office or via email to MitchellMainArtWindows@gmail.com by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024. Art specifications are outlined in the official entry form. The art submitted will be the property of the Mitchell Area Council of the Arts, MMSB, and MCOC.
“We believe that art has the power to transform communities, and with the Mitchell Main Street Window Art Contest, we aim to showcase the vibrant spirit of our town through the creative expressions of local artists. Elizabeth Luczak, Events Manager for Mitchell Main Street & Beyond said. “This contest not only celebrates the talent of our artists but also fosters a sense of togetherness that makes Mitchell a truly special place to call home.”
Installation will be scheduled for May 2024. Art will be displayed at the 3rd Ave & Main Street building in downtown Mitchell.
