A Mitchell Middle School teacher has earned a special national recognition. Suzanne Skinner teaches Family and Consumer Sciences.
The National Association of Family and Consumer Sciences presented Skinner with it first-ever Bettye Brown Teacher Excellence Award.
“Nominated by the South Dakota group and submitted the application and received notification that I was selected nationwide as one of two that received the award.” said Skinner.
This is Skinner’s 45th year teaching. She says her inspiration started at home. “Growing up with five siblings and a chance to nurture those younger siblings and then having FACS classes, which was home economics back in that day,” Skinner explained. “FACS classes that I really liked and the variety of content, this has just truly been a love my whole career.”
Skinner appreciates the opportunity to work with Mitchell’s students and the community on student projects.
