The Mitchell Planning Commission on Monday approved two projects plus accompanying Tax Increment Financing districts.
The first plan by submitted by Paul Groneweg, LLC for the 1800 block of East First Avenue between Tiger and Matte Streets. It’s described as an Affordable Housing Project of multi-family rental housing units consisting of 70 two- and three-bedroom apartment units, an exercise gym room and possible coffee shop. Part of this is zoned as “neighborhood shopping.”
“Pretty neat project,” noted Attorney Don Peterson. It’s designated as TIF 41.
The group also approved plans for TIF 42, an expansion of Dale’s A-1 Transmission located on South Burr. The plan includes building six additional garage bays to the east plus a walkway.
Peterson also represents the Long family. “A three-generation business started by Dale a long time ago,” said Peterson. “Daren’s sons and some of the other brother’s sons are starting to work in there.”
The plan calls for the addition of at least ten additional employees.
Both projects may be completed sometime this fall.
