On September 28th, 2023, at approximately 0211 hours, Mitchell Police Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. The vehicle stopped in the 300 Block of N Minnesota St in Mitchell. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped away from the traffic stop and a pursuit ensued with law enforcement. The pursuing officer called the pursuit off due to safety concerns for the public.
After the pursuit ended MPD officers located the suspect vehicle wrecked in 3rd Ave and Bypass area. A search of the area was conducted for the driver of the vehicle and the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as BRANDON SCOTT (DOB 4/21/82). During a search of the contraband consisting of narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia was located.
The Mitchell Police Department is thankful that no one was injured during this incident and MPD officers were able to capture BRANDON SCOTT without incident. Assisting the Mitchell Police Department was the South Dakota Highway Patrol and Davison County Sheriff’s Office.
