Mitchell Police have identified the deceased person who was found on October 20th near the railroad tracks on the 800 block of W. Hanson Avenue as 47-year-old former Mitchell resident Joseph Anthony Emly
Lieutenant Don Everson says an autopsy was conducted on the body last week. “There’s no clear indication of what exactly caused his death,” said Everson. “At this point we’re waiting for toxicology results.”
Everson says some of the last people who had spoken to Emly about a month prior stated he made suicidal comments.
At this point there’s no indication of foul play involving the death.
