Mitchell resident charged following a vehicle pursuit

A 39 year old man from Mitchell is facing several charges following a vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning north of Mitchell.

A news release from the Davison County Sheriff’s Office indicated around 1:10 am, a Deputy observed a northbound Chevy Impala driving recklessly near mile marker 77 on Highway 37 near the Lake Mitchell spillway. The vehicle was clocked at 66 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour construction zone and failing to maintain its lane.

The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights and siren, but it continued traveling north on 37 to the Sanborn County line. The vehicle then turned around and headed south where other deputies successfully deployed tire spikes and ended the pursuit near the intersection of Highway 37 and North Harmon Drive.

Corey Bowers was identified as the driver and charged with aggravated eluding, reckless driving and no proof of insurance. He was arrested and taken to the Davison County Jail.
