The Mitchell Rotary Club has presented the Carl Sprunger Educator of the Year Award to Mitchell High School History Teacher Steve Morgan.
He was selected based on nominations made by graduating seniors of Mitchell’s two high schools who are asked to nominate individuals they feel have made a meaningful contribution to their academic and leadership success.
Morgan has been teaching for 34 years and is humbled by the honor. “Teaching is a relational profession,” said Morgan. “And I do know that if you want to succeed, and persevere in this profession, you have to be able to relate to kids.”
Rotary also awarded a grant to Morgan to assist him with his contribution to student success.
Fifty-eight current and former members of the school systems were nominated, and each will receive a letter of congratulations from Rotary.
