Mitchell Salvation Army gets a boost from local service clubs

Mitchell’s five major service clubs gathered Monday to celebrate their accomplishments and support the Salvation Army during an annual Christmas get-together at DWU.

Santa Claus stopped by to encourage the giving. “They got a short season between Thanksgiving and Christmas to collect in the kettles,” said the Jolly Old Elf. “Prices are a lot higher and there’s an ongoing need out into in the community.”

The clubs kicked in $6,000 during the event which Salvation Army Lieutenant Amber Morin gratefully accepted from the Exchange, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Optimists Clubs.
