Mitchell School Board extends special kudos to a number of student organizations

Monday’s Mitchell School Board meeting led off with the annual recognition of numerous student organizations. They include HOSA, FCCLA, Educators Rising, FFA, ProStart, Robotics, Skills USA and FBLA. Representatives from each group shared their accomplishments with the Board.

The group also approved the Elementary School handbook for the 2026-2027 school year and approved two South Dakota High School Activities matters followed by board member reports.

Superintendent Joe Childs shared an update on the old high school demolition project related to bricks. “So there are a pile of bricks that are set up on the southeast corner of the old high school near the Puetz trailer,” Childs said. “So we’d encourage you to take one for yourself or your kids or grandkids or whoever would like a keepsake from the old high school.”

He says sign up for the new Summer Scholars program is also going well, plus Childs is looking forward to high school graduation on Sunday May 24th at 2pm.
