Mitchell School Board focuses on student fund-raising policy

The Mitchell School Board is working on updating a policy regarding fund-raising for a variety of activities involving students.

Superintendent Joe Childs says fund-raising has evolved over the years. “We just wanted to begin with a little more detail about what kind of expectations we have for students that are doing fund-raising,” Childs said. “What would be like to know about any of these practices they are going through.”

The policy would require the respective organization to state its goal. “Are you going to be buying a space on a board,or are you going to be buying ‘worlds finest chocolate’, or is it a donation and this is the amount we want to end up with,” asked Childs.

In other business, the board approved the sale of an MTC wind turbine, approved second reading of several policy series, was updated on the high school construction project and toured the Middle School.
