The Mitchell School Board recently approved Superintendent Joe Childs request to hire an additional person at the Middle School. “This would be for an additional coach at the middle school,” said Childs. “Essentially the coach is somebody who’s routinely providing teachers with feedback, best practices, taking what they know from this classroom to that classroom. Here’s what works well and here’s what doesn’t.”
The board also discussed hiring a student success coordinator. “Any of these students who are coming from their neighborhood school to the middle school, smoothing out that transition,” Childs said. “We hear it repeatedly from parents and students that, you know, there’s a little bit of hesitancy to go to the middle school, or it’s just bigger, it’s a little scarier.”
The Board also continued its budget review, approved the Mitchell High School student handbook, and was briefed on the recent State Literacy Summit hosted at the High School.
