Mitchell School District celebrates progress on new high school construction

Students, community members and special guests were on hand for Friday’s symbolic “beam-signing” at the Mitchell High School construction site.

Mitchell School Board president Brittni Flood was amazed at how far construction has progressed. “We had talked about the beam is just such an amazing thing to be able to hold the support of this building but also the support we have seen from the community,” Flood said.

Followed by Mitchell High School student body president Ava Brannan. “And although I’m not going to be able to experience the new buildings, I’m really excited for future generations to be able to utilize such nice facilities,” said Brannan. “And I think as a community we should take a lot of pride that we were able to come together and allow this to happen.”

And a word from high school principal Justin Siemsen. “As a parent, as an employee of the Mitchell School District, and as a member of this community, thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate it,” Siemsen said. “And let’s go ahead and sign the beam.”

Crews will hoist the signed I-beam into place in the near future.
