Mitchell Public Schools are closed this week as per Governor Kristi Noem’s request. And while the district is initiating an e-learning program, Superintendent Joe Graves says breakfast and lunch is available Monday through Wednesday of this week at L.B. Williams, Gertie Belle Rogers and Longfellow elementary schools, plus the Middle School and Senior High.
“They can walk up to the front door, enter,” said Graves. “The next set of doors will be closed because the food service people will be right there…they will hand “grab and go” (breakfasts and) lunches to the students and they can walk right out the door.”
Graves says the meals are completely free to anyone under the age of eighteen.
Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am and lunch from 11am to 1pm.
Mitchell Public school’s spring break is Thursday and Friday so the school meals are not available those two days.
