Mayor Bob Everson is working to make Mitchell City government more transparent and accessible to the community.
Currently all city council and committee meetings are open to the community. Everson says all meetings will now take place at a central location: council chambers at City Hall. “It gives us opportunity to live-stream it,” said Everson. “We could out it on the cable TV channel that carries the council meetings…we also will record them, it’s archived, you can go back and look at it.”
In the past committees such as Park and Rec and Lake Mitchell Advisory met at separate locations that weren’t technologically equipped to livestream or record their proceedings. Everson says the move improves city government transparency and access for the community.
All city council meetings are televised on Mitchell Telecom and Midco public access channels. City administrator Stephanie Ellwein says if the cable companies aren’t televising a particular committee meeting it can be viewed live-stream on the City’s YouTube channel.
