Mitchell Technical College announces record fall enrollment

Mitchell Technical College has announced a record-breaking enrollment
for the Fall 2025 semester, with 1,344 students enrolled—an 8.6% increase over last fall’s
total of 1,237. This marks the highest enrollment in the college’s history and includes a
record 616 first-year students, reflecting strong regional interest in technical education and
workforce development.

“This milestone is a testament to the value students and families place on technical education,”
said Theresa Kriese, President of Mitchell Technical College. “We’re honored to be the college
of choice for so many students and are committed to helping each of them succeed in their
chosen field.”

The surge in enrollment spans multiple programs. The college attributes the increase to
expanded outreach efforts, strong industry partnerships, and a continued focus on hands-on
learning.

“We’ve worked hard to make Mitchell Tech accessible and relevant to today’s students,”
said Clayton Deuter, Vice President for Enrollment. “This record enrollment shows that our
message is resonating. Students are choosing Mitchell Tech because they know they’ll
graduate with the skills employers are seeking.”

Mitchell Technical College continues to invest in student success through enhanced support
services, updated facilities, and innovative offerings. The college remains committed to
preparing students for high-demand careers across South Dakota.
