Mitchell Technical College raises tuition for the first time in four years

For the first time in four years Mitchell Technical College is bumping its tuition. Chief Financial Officer Jared Hofer outlined the increases for the Mitchell School Board.

“Overall, that’s a ten-dollar increase in fees to our students, or ten-dollars per credit hour,” Hofer said. “So, our average cost will be going from $240 to about $250 a credit hour.”

South Dakota technical colleges are getting a 1.25 percent increase in funding which the legislature agreed to earlier this year.

Hofer says for the third year in a row, MTC will get some one-time money for new  equipment.

The average MTC student takes approximately 36 credits a year.

Costs to attend Mitchell Technical College are considerably lower than the state’s Regental schools.
