The Mitchell Area Council of the Arts, Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, and the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with local business owners have announced the winners of this year’s Mitchell Main Street Window Art Contest!
Artists of all ages and backgrounds were invited to interpret the theme, “Literary Inspirations.” This contest encouraged participants to capture the essence of their favorite literary works through their unique artistic visions, showcasing how books, poems, and stories have left a lasting impact on their lives.
Danna Kolbeck, President of the Mitchell Area Council of the Arts, shared her enthusiasm: “We asked artists to depict the influence of a book, poem, or story on their lives. Whether inspired by a villain, hero, or theme, artists brought their literary passions to life by designing window panels that will be admired by thousands of locals and tourists visiting Mitchell Main Street.”
The contest received a remarkable array of entries from artists of all ages and backgrounds. The submitted artworks were reviewed by a panel of judges who evaluated them based on creativity, interpretation of the theme, and overall impact. This year’s winners are Anna Morelli, Breanna Garcia, Brianna Wiersema, Cariann Drake, David Louis Carter, Jacqueline Haskell, Jessa Ott, Kaye Lynn Vander Heiden, Keely Nelson, Kinleigh Winckel, Lori Bruguier, Lyle W Miller Sr., Malia Heth, Myah Keppen, Olivia Peterson, Rachel Soulek, Savannah Waldon, Selena Voss, and Zoey Zomer.
The winning artworks will be installed and displayed at the 3rd Ave & Main Street building in downtown Mitchell starting in June/July 2024. This public exhibition will allow residents and visitors to enjoy the creative expressions of our local artists.
