Mitchell’s “Creative Way” seeking artists

Attention artists! Mitchell Creative Way has a city-block long canvas waiting for you. It’s located in the alley between East Fourth and Fifth Avenues next to Wells Fargo Bank.

Stan Sherwood is a local artist. He says the Mitchell Arts Council was searching to expand outdoor art in the downtown area. “They found this alley, and it sounds like people were on board,” said Sherwood.

He says it’s open to all ages and requires approval of a free permit that’s reviewed by the Arts Council for appropriateness.

Melissa Schwalm of Studio Aria is excited to see new artistic creations. “This is meant to be something that’s not so hard to get into and to do,” Schwalm said. “To have something publicly displayed in art. If someone young wants to do a mural or a novice, or an expert or whatever.”
