We’re closing in on the opening of Mitchell’s first roundabout at the corner of North Ohlman Street and Cemetery Road.
Mayor Jordan Hanson said asphalt work was delayed but it’s set to resume today. “The roundabout itself is all cement. That part’s already done,” said Hanson. “It’s just the approaches and Ohlman Street and all that has to be done.”
Hanson added “They have a little bit of landscaping to do and you know the dirt work and earth work to finish everything else up. So, November 1st is the deadline for that one.”
He’s also thinking about a finishing-touch. “You know, one thing we have been talking about is that in the middle of the roundabout, should we put something really cool like a statue or like some sort of landscaping deal,” Hanson asked. “Because right now there’s really nothing. It’s kind of a blank slate. So I might bring that to Council to just talk about what we should do in that location.”
Hanson is open to suggestions regarding the center of the roundabout.
