Monday’s Mitchell City Council meeting will start as usual at 6pm. However Mayor Bob Everson says it’s been moved to the Corn Palace. “Because we’re expecting to have quite a few people attend the meeting,” Everson said. “And this way we can spread them out to get a little distance between them which is one of the ways that we help mitigate the issues with the coronavirus.”
He says other city-owned and operated facilities are closed at this time except the Corn Palace. “We do have some people who have rented the Corn Palace and we’re working with them to if there’s possibilities of them maybe changing the dates that they’re using it,” said Everson. “We’re waiting to here from them yet.”
As a reminder Mitchell Public Schools, Mitchell Technical Institute are closed this week and Dakota Wesleyan University is closed tentatively until March 30th. As of Sunday there are still nine confirmed presumptive positive COVID-19 infections with 327 negative results and 6 pending.
