Some Davison county and township roads are deteriorating. That’s the word from Davison County Emergency Management Director Jeff Bathke. “We’ve got several gravel roads that are impassable and have water running on them and we’re running out of barricades,” said Bathke. He says if you come upon them at night you’re not going to see the water.
Bathke is advising no travel. “I know people have to get home, but the least amount of further damage we can have to the roads is the best,” he said.
Bathke says Mount Vernon residents can get sandbags at the Post Office. City of Mitchell residents can access self-serve sandbags at the city street shop located on West 8th Ave. Davison County residents can access self-serve sandbags at the County HWY shop off West 5th Ave. Please do NOT access the shop from West 8th Ave, due to the condition of the driveway.
