The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released the names of two men involved in a single-vehicle fatal crash last Friday morning in Scenic.
Crash information indicates around 12:40 am, 37 year old Nicholas Wayne Foltz of Fort Bidwell, California, was driving a Mercedes Benz C-Class southbound on Bombing Range Road near Sheep Mountain Road. The vehicle left the roadway to the right and overturned several times in the ditch. A passenger in the front seat, identified as 25 year old Thomas John Barlese from Kyle, South Dakota, was partially ejected during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Foltz sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. He’s charged with Vehicular Homicide and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drug or Intoxicant. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
