South Dakota authorities have released the names of those involved in a fatal crash last Saturday near Flandreau.
18-year-old Davina M. Darveaux died Saturday afternoon when the pickup truck she was in collided with a semi shortly after 2:30 pm.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says 30 year old Taylor J. Zeutenhorst of Valley Springs was driving a semi-truck and trailer eastbound on SD Highway 32 near mile marker 416. 18 year old Morgan B. Thompson of Estelline was driving a pickup truck traveling in the same direction behind the semi. As Zeutenhorst initiated a right-hand turn onto 475th Avenue, Thompson swerved to the left and struck the semi-trailer.
Zuetenhorst was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt. Thompson had minor injuries and Darveaux sustained fatal injuries from the collision. Neither Thompson nor Darveaux were using seat belts.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
