One person died and another was seriously injured Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Alexandria.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported around 8:40 AM, a 2024 Chevy Silverado was traveling westbound on I-90 near mile marker 344. The 68 year old female driver from Council Bluffs, Iowa driver drifted into the median, corrected steering, then entered the north ditch where the vehicle rolled.
The driver died at the scene. The 62 year old adult female passenger from Oceanside, California was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. A four-year old female passenger suffered minor injuries.
All three occupants of the pickup were wearing seat belts.
The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
