Operation Round-Up grant awarded to Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota

The Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota got a boost from Central Electric’s Operation Roundup program. Representatives Merl Bechen and Tara Miller presented a check for $2,200 for kitchen appliances in its family visitation center.

Executive director Coleen Hoffman says appliances will be used by the families the Safe Place serves. “Because we’re more than just a shelter,” Hoffman said. “We’re also family support services with the family visitation center and our other programs.”

Operation Roundup is powered by Central Electric members who voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the next dollar. The extra cents are deposited into a separate fund and used to support community-focused projects in Central Electric’s service area.

Grants are awarded twice a year. The next deadline to apply is October 31st.
