The Pennington County man in his 60’s who died as a result of the COVID-19 virus, actually died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Avera Queen of Peace CEO Tom Clark says 16 staff were involved and then put on self-isolation. “Some of those staff have returned to work,” said Clark. “Some are still at home.”
He says the staff that were affected were the ones that were exposed before the virus risk was realized. “The protocol is that you go into self-isolation for up to fourteen days,” Clark said. “Many of them since have been asymptomatic and I believe have returned to work.”
Clark says all have been tested as far as he knows everything’s been negative.
As of noon Monday, South Dakota now has ten confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus.
