A 32-year-old man from Minnesota is in custody following a pursuit with the South Dakota Highway Patrol in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area Sunday afternoon.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported around 12:30 pm, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a reported robbery at a HyVee gas station and initiated a pursuit of Nathan John Boswell driving a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. Law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later the South Dakota Highway Patrol observed the vehicle driving westbound on I-90 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle entered the eastbound lanes of I-90 and proceeded to travel westbound in the eastbound lanes. The South Dakota Highway Patrol disabled the Chrysler as it exited the interstate at 451st Street in McCook County. Boswell barricaded himself inside the vehicle. Numerous attempts were made to get Boswell to exit the vehicle. Boswell refused to exit the vehicle. The Minnehaha County SWAT Team responded and deployed gas. Boswell exited his vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. He was taken to the hospital and medically cleared before being taken to the Minnehaha County Jail.
Other agencies involved included Sioux Falls Police Department, the Moody County Sherriff’s Office, the Minnehaha County Sherriff’s Office, and the McCook County Sherriff’s Office.
