SD broadcasters and students attend conference sponsored in part by SDNW

South Dakota News Watch-Carson Walker

South Dakota was well represented Friday and Saturday at the annual Midwest Broadcast Journalist Association conference in Saint Paul, Minnesota. More than 20 students and professors from South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota attended the sessions, including training on investigative reporting that was sponsored by South Dakota News Watch. Both schools also took home numerous awards for their work, as did J.P. Skelly, news director of KORN News Radio in Mitchell and Zach Nelson, news director of KCCR-AM in Pierre. Other sponsors included both universities, the South Dakota Broadcasters Association, Riverfront Broadcasting, Gray Media (KDLT-TV, KSFY-TV, KOTA-TV, KEVN-TV and KTIV-TV).
