A line of severe weather roared through Woonsocket around 3pm Sunday.
Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley says straight line winds estimated around 70 miles an hour hit the community. “Took a lot of big trees,” said Fridley. “It took a lot of powerlines down when it took the trees.

It also damaged some campers and grain bins and roofs. “The power companies have been notified and they’re actively putting stuff up,” Fridley said.

The Sheriff says the residents are doing well. “They’re trying to clean up, if I could just get rid of all the ‘lookie-loos’ that’s tying up my town.”
The National Weather Service also confirmed a 62 mile an hour wind gust near Lane.
