The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported a 78 year old man from Pierre died in a single vehicle crash Friday evening two miles east of Blunt.
Preliminary crash information indicates shortly before 7 pm, the driver of a GMC Sierra pickup was traveling eastbound on US Highway 14 near mile marker 252 when it left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle continued up a railroad track embankment and over the tracks, then down the other side into a ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on the passenger side. The driver died at the scene.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members.
