Wednesday evening 15 beds were donated to local families through the annual Slumberland Homes for the Holidays Bed Giveaway. The event is a long-standing partnership between Slumberland Furniture and Mitchell Area United Way that’s continued for more than 30 years.
Slumberland manager Kyle Purintun loves this time of the year. “Love seeing the kids getting their new beds, and with all of our help from all of our organizations around the community, it really helps us get kids in a really comfortable bed with pillows, quilts, mattress protectors, everything that they need to get a really good night’s sleep,” Purintun said. “It’s really enjoyable.”

Ann Scott of the Mitchell Area United Way says member agencies provided referrals. “Prior to that we find out from Slumberland how many beds will be available and then we fortunately have never had to turn anyone down,” said Scott. “So it really stays pretty even, and this year was 15 beds.”
Davison County CFEL, Zion Lutheran Church, First Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church donated the quilts and pillows.
