South Dakota Education Secretary and former Mitchell school superintendent Joe Graves was on-hand for Wednesday’s bill-signing with Governor Kristi Noem in Mitchell.
Graves says HB 1022 which authorized $6-million dollars for the Education Department to provide professional development in literacy for teachers got a thorough review from appropriators….
Graves also praised SB 127 dealing with teacher compensation by setting a minimum starting salary of $45,000 a year….
South Dakota has consistently offered some of the lowest average teacher salaries in the nation.
