Every year at this time Mitchell earns the nickname “Sturgis East” by hosting its popular “Pre-Sturgis” party for travelers heading to the annual rally.
Brian Klock of Klockwerks says it began 18 years ago at his Mitchell business location. “This is the seventh year that the city has let us come down and enjoy all of Main Street”, said Klock. “So lucky number seven.”
Attendance usually ranges between four and five thousand, mostly from the eastern United States. “Fun, family atmosphere”, he said. “I’m looking at these kids and that dog and the strollers, and like I love it! I couldn’t be happier for Mitchell.”
Klock praised Mitchell residents for their continuing hospitality as their guest head out for the official opening of the 84th rally this afternoon in downtown Sturgis.
