Superintendent Joe Childs reflects on a successful school year for Mitchell

It’s the end of the 2025-2026 school year in Mitchell. And Superintendent Joe Childs says it’s been memorable. “The day before school began with the announcement of our endowment gift in partnership with Dakota Wesleyan, which has just continued to flourish and grow all the way through the school year with new opportunities for kids all across the district,” said Childs.

Along with the grand opening of the new high school and the demolition of the old high school. “A little poetic, I suppose, as you see the new opportunistic high school standing tall and strong on one side of the street and the old high school coming down just day by day,” Childs observed.

Next on the agenda is the start of the new Summer Scholars program which is set to begin on June 1st.
