The 2026-2027 school year for Mitchell public schools is off and running. “Kicked off the first day with our after-school program as well,” said Superintendent Joe Childs. “So we’ve been pretty excited about that. I’ve been visiting all of the schools and things look like they’re going well.”
He says it’s exciting. “We’ve implemented a number of new strategies for having, you know, some kind of mechanism for improving academic achievement, so we hope to see the fruits of that labor,” Childs said.
He says the after-school programs are underway following the successful “Summer Scholars” program.
The next Mitchell School Board meeting is set for Monday at 5:30 pm at the MC-TEA building.
