A signature event during Mitchell’s Octoberfest is the Wiener Dog Races. The dashing Dachshunds are always a crowd favorite, and this year was no exception.
This year’s winning wiener-dog was a seven-year-old black and cream, long-haired Dachshund named Luther.
Owner Sophia Fischer says Luther is a veteran of the wiener-dog racing circuit. “It’s a good experience for my dog and for me,” said Fischer. “He loves it. We do it every year at the hockey game.”
She says this is Luther’s first championship and plans to return next year to defend his title!
